Fuel Pump Module - Removal

REMOVAL

WARNING: The fuel system is under a constant pressure, even with the engine off. Before servicing the fuel pump module, the fuel system pressure must be released.

1. Perform the fuel system pressure release procedure Service and Repair




2. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
3. Drain and remove the fuel tank Fuel Tank - Removal
4. Note the rotational position of the module before attempting removal. An indexing arrow is located on top of the module for this purpose.
5. Position the lock ring remover/installer 9340 (3) into the notches on the outside edge of the lock ring (5).
6. Install a 1/2 inch drive breaker bar (1) into the lock ring remover/installer 9340 (3).
7. Rotate the breaker bar counterclockwise to remove the lock ring.
8. Remove the lock ring. The module will spring up slightly when the lock ring is removed.
9. Remove the module from the fuel tank. Be careful not to bend the float arm during removal.
