Body - Quad Rear Doors Won't Lock/Unlock

SUBJECT:
Rear Quad Cab Door Will Not Power Lock And Unlock

OVERVIEW:
This involves removing rear quad cab door trim panel and rerouting the power lock and unlock wire harness away from the bell crank on the right and/or left side.

MODELS:

2009-2010 (DS) RAM 1500 Pickup

NOTE:
This bulletin applies to vehicles built before April 15, 2009 (MDH0415XX).

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The customer may experience a condition where the rear quad cab door on the right and/or left side will not lock or unlock using the FOBIC or door panel switches.

NOTE:
The rear quad cab doors will lock and unlock properly in all manual operations.

DIAGNOSIS:
If the customer experiences the symptom/condition perform the repair procedure.





PARTS REQUIRED:

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

1. Remove the door trim panel right and/or left side. Refer to the detailed procedures available in DealerCONNECT > TechCONNECT >: Service Info > 23-Body > Doors - Rear > PANEL, Rear Door Trim > Removal.





2. Reroute the door lock wiring harness away from the bell crank mechanism to a 90° angle and reduce the slack in the wiring harness, then secure with a zip tie to the routing tab as shown in (Fig. 1).

3. Install the door trim panel right and/or left side. Refer to the detailed procedures available in DealerCONNECT > TechCONNECT >: Service Info > 23-Body > Doors - Rear > PANEL, Rear Door Trim > Installation.

4. Verify the FOBIC and door lock switches unlock and lock the rear quad doors.

5. Return the vehicle to the customer.
