SUBJECT:
Whistle And/Or High Pitch Windnoise At Door Near Windshield A-Pillar
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves installing a foam stuffer block into door weatherstrip for vehicles on the VIN list or checking for wind noise at A-pillar for vehicles not on the VIN list and if necessary installing a foam stuffer block into door weatherstrip.

NOTE:
This bulletin applies to vehicles built before April 18, 2011 (MDH 0418XX).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Customer may experience whistle and/or high pitch windnoise at door near windshield A-pillar.
DIAGNOSIS:
If a customer's VIN is listed in VIP or your RRT VIN list, perform the repair. For all other customers that describe the symptom/condition, perform the Repair Procedure.
PARTS REQUIRED:
SPECIAL TOOLS/EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Is this vehicle a 2011 model year built between 12/1/2010 and 4/18/2011?
a. Yes >>> proceed to Step # 4
b. No >>> proceed to Step # 2
2. Drive the vehicle at posted highway speeds and listen for a whistle and/or screech noise coming from either Left and/or Right side windshield/A-Pillar area.
3. Does a wind noise condition exist?
a. Yes >>> proceed to Step # 4
b. No >>> Return the vehicle to the customer or dealer inventory.
4. Open the front doors and locate the section of the seal (1)(Fig. 1).
5. Clean the area of weatherstrip (Fig. 1) & (Fig. 2) with isopropyl alcohol wipe on both left and right front doors and allow to dry.
6. Cut out 2 foam blocks using the dimensions below(Fig. 3).
7. Once area is dry apply foam block (Fig. 4).
NOTE:
Locate line (4) on weather strip, just above the door mirror, for proper location of foam block and be sure to position the stuffer with the adhesive side facing down so it bonds to the base of the weather strip at the base between the bulb and lip.
NOTE:
When the door is closed verify there is no bulge where the stuffer was inserted in the weather strip and foam is not visible from outside.
