Rear

DESCRIPTION

The A/C-heater control for the rear heater-A/C system is mounted in the headliner. The rear control allows intermediate seat passengers to adjust rear temperature and blower motor speed when the front A/C-heater control is set to the Rear position, otherwise the front A/C-heater control operates both the front and the rear heater-A/C systems.

The A/C-heater control for the rear heater-A/C system is a slave potentiometer to the front A/C-heater control.

The rear A/C-heater control is diagnosed using a scan tool Testing and Inspection.

The rear A/C-heater control cannot be repaired and must be replaced if inoperative or damaged.

AUTOMATIC TEMPERATURE CONTROL (ATC)

The rear Automatic Temperature Control (ATC) A/C-heater control (1) contains:

- a rotary control knob (3) for rear temperature control (when rear system is under control by the rear seat occupants).
- an icon (4) that illuminates when the rear heating-A/C system is on, when under control by either the front or rear seat occupants.
- a rotary control knob (5) for manual rear fan speed selection, Auto mode and turning the rear heater-A/C system off (when rear system is under control by the rear seat occupants).

Rear ATC temperature selection dictates the air distribution mode (overhead or floor). A cool temperature setting directs air flow to the overhead outlets and a warm temperature setting directs air flow to the floor outlet.

MANUAL TEMPERATURE CONTROL (MTC)

The rear Manual Temperature Control (MTC) A/C-heater control (1) contains:

- a rotary control knob for fan speed selection and turning the rear heating-A/C system on and off (2).
- a rotary control knob for temperature control of the rear discharged air (3).
- a rotary control knob for mode control of the rear discharged air (4).
