Rear HVAC Housing






INSTALLATION

NOTE: Replacement of the refrigerant line O-ring seals and gaskets is required anytime a refrigerant line is disconnected. Failure to replace the rubber O-ring seals and metal gaskets may result in a refrigerant system leak.





1. Position the rear heater-A/C housing (3) into the opening in the floor panel and locate the two plastic alignment pins to the holes (1) in the body.
2. Install the two bolts (1) that secure the rear heater-A/C housing to the body. Tighten the bolts to 3 Nm (26 in. lbs.).
3. Connect the wire harness connector (2) to the rear heater-A/C wire harness.
4. Install the rear distribution ducts Distribution Duct - Installation.
5. Install the right quarter trim panel Quarter Trim Panel - Installation.






NOTE: Illustration shown with exhaust system and heat shield removed for clarity.

6. Raise and support the vehicle.
7. Remove the tape or plugs from the opened refrigerant line fittings and rear expansion valve ports.
8. Lubricate new rubber O-ring seals with clean refrigerant oil and install them onto the refrigerant line fittings. Use only the specified O-rings as they are made of a special material for the R-134a refrigerant system. Use only refrigerant oil of the type recommended for the A/C compressor in the vehicle.
9. Connect the underbody refrigerant lines (3) to the rear A/C expansion valve (2).
10. Install the nut (1) that secures the underbody refrigerant lines to the to the rear A/C expansion valve. Tighten the nut to 11 Nm (97 in. lbs.).
11. Connect the rear heater hoses (5) to the rear heater core tubes and install the heater hose clamps (4) securely.
12. Lower the vehicle.
13. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
14. If the heater core is being replaced, flush the cooling system Service and Repair.
15. Fill the engine cooling system Service and Repair.
16. Evacuate and charge the refrigerant system Refrigerant System Charge.
17. Calibrate the front and rear A/C systems as follows:
- Initiate the Actuator Calibration function using a scan tool
- Verify that the Actuator Calibration of the front A/C-heater control has passed. Correct any errors before proceeding if the Actuator Calibration has not passed.
- Rotate the rear temperature control knob counter clockwise to the full cold position. Allow the control to remain in the full cold position for 5 seconds.
- Rotate the rear temperature control knob clockwise to the full hot position. Allow the control to remain in the full hot position for 5 seconds.
- Calibration is now complete.
