THIS SERVICE BULLETIN IS ALSO BEING RELEASED AS RAPID RESPONSE TRANSMITTAL (RRT) 11-036. ALL APPLICABLE SOLD AND UN-SOLD RRT VIN's HAVE BEEN LOADED. Power 3rd Row Stow And Go 40 Percent Seat Will Not Fully Stow
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves inspecting the 3rd row stow and go 40% seat and if necessary performing the repair procedure.
MODELS:
2011 (RI) Caravan/Town and Country
NOTE:
NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles built between January 12, 2011 (MDH 0112XX) and January 24, 2011 (MDH 0124XX) equipped with 2 Row Stow 'N Go w/Tailgate Seats (sales code CWZP).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Power 3rd row stow and go 40 percent seat will not fully stow.
DIAGNOSIS:
If a customer's VIN is listed in VIP or your RRT VIN list, perform the repair. For all other customers that describe the symptom/condition, perform the Repair Procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Press the stow switch at the left interior quarter panel trim for the 40% (right) side seat. Did the seat fully stow (Fig. 1)?
a. Yes >>> Continue further diagnosis, this bulletin does not apply.
b. No >>> Proceed to Step # 2.
2. With seat in the stow position lift the load floor panel and remove the two screws securing the grocery guard.
3. Remove the 40% (right) side seat only from the vehicle. Refer to the detailed removal procedures available in DealerConnect > TechCONNECT under: Service Info > 23-Body > Seats, Third Row, Power Folding > Seat > Removal.
4. Remove the clip retaining the grocery guard to the seat (Fig. 3).
5. Remove the fastener securing the side shield to the seat (Fig. 4) and remove the side shield on the right and left side as well as the grocery shield.
6. Remove the J-clip between at the seat back (Fig. 5).
7. Pill out the zipper cursor tucked up in the seat back on the right and left side and unzip so you can fold the seat back material over the upper seat back (Fig. 6).
8. Pull back the gear guard flaps (Fig. 7) to access the spline guard screws.
9. Remove the four screws securing the spline guard to the seat back and remove the spline guard (Fig. 8).
10. Pry up on the two lower clips on the seat back panel support (Fig. 9) to gain access to the reclining motor bolt.
11. Remove the reclining motor bolt (Fig. 10).
12. Remove the seat back side bolts on the right and left side (Fig. 11).
13. Loose the seat gear bolts on the right and left side (Fig. 12).
14. Identify the stamping's on the right and left gears and remove the spline from the right side gear. Remove the spline from one of the right gear (Fig. 13).
15. Using a flat blade screw driver adjust the gear so the right and left side stamping's align parallelly (Fig. 14).
16. Reinstall the gear spline (Fig. 13).
17. Re-secure the left and right outer gear bolts (Fig. 12).
18. Install the left and right seatback side bolts (Fig. 11).
19. Install the seat recliner motor bolt (Fig. 10).
20. Re-secure the seat back panel support clips (Fig. 9).
21. Position the spline guard and reinstall the four screws (Fig. 8).
22. Fold the gear guard flaps back into place (Fig. 7).
23. Re-Zip the seat back skin and tuck away the zipper cursor (Fig. 6).
24. Fasten the seat back J-Clip (Fig. 5).
25. Reinstall the seat side shields for the right and left side (Fig. 4).
26. Position the grocery guard and secure the clip (Fig. 3).
27. Install the 40% (right) side seat. Refer to the detailed installation procedures available in DealerConnect > TechCONNECT under: Service Info > 23-Body > Seats, Third Row, Power Folding > Seat > Install.
28. With the seat in the full stow position install the two screws for the grocery shield (Fig. 2).
29. Cycle the third row power stow and go seat function two times to verify the seat fully stows. Did the 40% seat fully stow?
a. Yes >>> Proceed to Step # 30.
b. No >>> Continue further diagnosis, this bulletin does not apply.
30. Return the vehicle to the customer or dealer inventory.
