Instrument Panel - Installation

INSTALLATION





1. With the help of an assistant, position the instrument panel (1) into the vehicle.
2. Lift the instrument panel (1) up and forward to engage the retaining tab that secures each end of the instrument panel to the cowl side panels.





3. Engage the retaining tab that secures the top of each instrument panel center support bracket to the instrument panel support.
4. Install the bolts (2) supporting the instrument panel support (1) to the instrument panel center support bracket. Tighten the bolts to 9 Nm (80 in. lbs.). Repeat on the opposite side.






NOTE: Removal/Installation of the instrument panel will require the help of an assistant.

5. Install the bolts (1) securing the instrument panel to upper cowl panel. Tighten the bolts to 14 Nm (10 ft. lbs.). Repeat on opposite side.





6. Position the wire harness and install the wire harness ground bolt (2) to the underside of the instrument panel structure (1) located to the lower left side of the center stack.





7. Connect the wiring harness (1) on the driver side located near the instrument panel lower reinforcement (1).





8. Position the instrument panel lower reinforcement (1).
9. Install the fasteners (2) to the instrument panel lower reinforcement (1). Tighten the fasteners securely.





10. Position the hood release handle (1) and install the two fasteners (2) to the hood release handle. There is one fastener on each side of the handle. Tighten the fasteners securely.





11. Install the data link (1).





12. Connect the I/P to vehicle harness (1) located on the passenger side of the vehicle.





13. Connect the antenna harness (1) located on the passenger side of the vehicle.





14. Install the bolt (1) that secures the HVAC housing (2) to the front of the instrument panel support (3), near the lower center of the instrument panel. Tighten the bolt securely.





15. Install the bolt (1) that secures the driver side of the HVAC air distribution housing (2) to the underside of the instrument panel support (3). Tighten the bolt securely.





16. Install the bolt (1) that secures the passenger side end of the HVAC housing (3) to the underside of the instrument panel support (2). Tighten the bolt securely.





17. Install the bolt (1) that secures the passenger side of the HVAC air distribution housing (4) to the underside of the instrument panel support (3). Tighten the bolt securely.





18. Connect the instrument panel wire harness to the HVAC wire harness connector (1).





19. Connect the harness connectors (1, 2) to the occupant restraint controller (ORC) located on the floor panel at the center of the instrument panel support, Occupant Restraint Controller - Installation.





20. Position, connect and install the four plastic retainers that secure the instrument panel bin (1) to the instrument panel.





21. Position the floor console (2) into the vehicle.
22. Align and push the floor console (2) rearward to engage the retaining tab (1) from the floor bracket (3).





23. Install the fastener (1) to the front of the floor console. Tighten the fastener securely.





24. Position the upper glove box door into the upper glove box cavity.
25. Install the fasteners (1, 2) to the upper glove box door (1). Tighten the fasteners securely.





26. If equipped, install the USB connector to the upper glove box and position the glove box (1) into the cavity. Make sure all the retaining clips are engaged.
27. Install the fasteners (2, 3, 4, 5, 6) from the upper glove box (1). Tighten the fasteners securely.





28. Install the trim bezel (2) to the instrument panel.
29. Install the fasteners (1) to the instrument panel trim bezel (2). Tighten the fasteners securely.
30. Close the upper glove box door.





31. Install the lower glove box (1), Instrument Panel Glove Box - Installation.





32. Position the silencer to the instrument panel.
33. Install the push-pin retainers (1) and screws that secure the silencer (3) to the passenger side of the instrument panel (2).





34. Connect the HVAC controls, clock and install the center bezel (2) to the instrument panel.
35. Install the radio (1).





36. Install the radio bezel (1).





37. Install the two screws (1) that secure the defroster duct (2) to the top of the instrument panel cover (3). Tighten the screws securely.





38. Remove the seven bolts (3) that secure the front of the instrument panel (2) to the top of the dash panel (1). Tighten the bolts to 9 Nm (80 in. lbs.).





39. Position and install the instrument panel top cover (1). Make sure to engage all retaining tabs.





40. Connect the wire harness connectors (1, 2) located on the right A-pillar and engage the instrument panel wire harness retainers to the A-pillar.





41. Connect the wire harness connector(s) (1) located on the left A-pillar and engage the instrument panel wire harness retainers to the A-pillar.





42. Install the left and right side A-pillar trim panels (1), A-Pillar Trim Panel - Installation.





43. Install the gearshift cable (1, 2) to the shifter.





44. Install the steering column as an assembly, Steering Column - Installation.





45. Position and install the steering column opening cover (1) to the instrument panel.
46. Install the screw located on the outboard side attaching the steering column opening cover (1) to the instrument panel structure. tighten the screw securely.





47. Install the screws (1) to the steering column opening cover. The screws are located near the hood release handle. Tighten the screws securely.





48. Install the end cap (1) to the instrument panel. Repeat on opposite side.
49. Install the lower cowl trim panel, Cowl Trim Panel - Installation. Repeat on opposite side.





50. Install the shifter knob (1) and bezel (2).
51. Connect the negative battery cable.
