A/C - ATC/MTC Modules Lose Configuration

HELP USING THE wiTECH DIAGNOSTIC APPLICATION FOR FLASHING AN ECU IS AVAILABLE BY SELECTING "HELP" THEN "HELP CONTENTS" AT THE TOP OF THE wiTECH DIAGNOSTIC APPLICATION WINDOW.

THE wiTECH SOFTWARE LEVEL MUST BE AT RELEASE 11.03 OR HIGHER TO PERFORM THIS PROCEDURE.

SUBJECT:
Flash: HVAC Control Module

OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves selectively erasing and reprogramming the Automatic Temperature Control Module (ATC) or Manual Temperature Control Module (MTC) with new software.

MODELS:

2011 (JC) Journey

NOTE:
This bulletin applies to vehicles equipped with a 2.4L or 3.6L engines (sales code ED3 or ERB) built between November 25, 2010 (MDH 1125XX) and December 18, 2010 (MDH 1218XX).

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

The ATC/MTC controller may loose it configuration. This condition can happen when the battery is disconnected or becomes low. This condition could also happen if CAN bus communication was lost. The software was changed to monitor the configuration every 2 seconds and updated it, if the last data saved in memory is different from what is being received on the CAN bus to correct this issue.

Updating the ATC/MTC software will correct these condition.

DIAGNOSIS:
Using a Scan Tool (wiTECH(TM)) with the appropriate Diagnostic Procedures available in TechCONNECT, verify all HVAC system is functioning as designed. If DTC's are present record them on the repair order and repair as necessary before proceeding further with this bulletin.

If the above condition is present, perform the Repair Procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

NOTE:
If this flash process is interrupted/aborted, the flash should be restarted.

1. Using the wiTECH Diagnostic Application for flashing a ATC/MTC is made available through the wiTECH Diagnostic Application. For instructions select the "HELP" tab on upper portion of the wiTECH window, then "HELP CONTENTS". This will open the Welcome to wiTECH Help screen were help topics can be selected.

a. Clear any DTC's that may have been set in other modules due to reprogramming. The wiTECH application will automatically present all DTCs after the flash and allow the tech to clear them.

2. Cycle the ignition switch.
