The steering angle sensor (SAS) is an integral part of the clockspring (3) mounted on the steering column Clockspring - Description.

The SAS is the LIN master node as well as a gateway to the Controller Area Network (CAN) data bus for steering wheel controls, multi function switches, and the Steering Control Module (SCM).
