C. (RT) Grand Caravan/Town and Country PCM Replacement

1. Turn the ignition to the "OFF" position and remove the battery charger.

2. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.

3. Raise the vehicle on a hoist.





4. Remove the four electrical connectors from the PCM (Figure 1).

5. Remove the three retaining bolts and PCM from the bracket (Figure 1).

6. Install the new PCM to the bracket, tighten the three retaining bolts to 40 in-lbs. (4.5 Nm) (Figure 1).

7. Install the four electrical connectors to the PCM (Figure 1).

8. Lower the vehicle from the hoist.

9. Connect the negative battery cable, tighten the retaining bolt to 45 in-lbs.(5 Nm).

10. Obtain the Personal Identification Number (PIN) for this vehicle.

NOTE:
The PIN number can be obtained from the original selling invoice, DealerCONNECT > Parts > Key Codes, or contacting the District Manager.

11. Install a battery charger and verify that the charging rate provides 13.0 to 13.5 volts. Do not allow the charger to time out during the flash process. Set the battery charger timer (if so equipped) to continuous charge.

NOTE:
Use an accurate stand alone voltmeter. The battery charger volt meter may not be sufficiently accurate. Voltages outside of the specified range will cause an unsuccessful flash. If voltage reading is too high, apply an electrical load by activating the park or headlamps and/or HVAC blower motor to lower the voltage.

12. Connect the wiTECH pod to the vehicle data link connector located under the steering column.

13. Place the ignition in the "RUN" position.

14. Open the wiTECH desktop application.

15. Starting at the "Select Tool" screen, select the row/tool for the wiPOD device you are using.

16. Enter your "User id" and "Password", then select "Finish".

17. Select the "Continue" tab at the bottom of the "No Vin" screen prompt.

18. The "No Vin" screen will then request the vehicle VIN number. Enter the complete vehicle VIN number and click on the "Continue" button.

19. Follow the wiTECH screen instructions.

20. Select the "Cancel" button at the "Information" screen prompt.

21. Select "PCM" from the modules on the "Vehicle View" screen.

22. Select the "Flash" tab at the top of the screen.

23. Select the required wiTECH flash file.

24. With the cursor over the desired flash file, click the small green arrow button on the right side of the screen.

25. Follow the wiTECH screen instructions.

26. Select the "OK" button on the "ECU Flash" screen.

27. Clear all Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC's) by clicking the "Clear DTC's button.

28. Select the "Return to Vehicle View" button.

29. Select "WCM" from the vehicle view illustration.

30. Select the "Misc. Functions" tab on the WCM View screen.

31. From the list, select "PCM Replaced" and click on the green arrow to the right of the item selected.

32. Follow the wiTECH screen instructions to complete the PCM programming.

33. Cycle the key and place the ignition in the "Run" position.

CAUTION:
Failure to cycle the key will result in a no start condition.

34. Select the "Return to Vehicle View" button.

35. Select "PCM" from the modules on the "Vehicle View" screen.

36. Select the "Misc. Functions" tab.

37. Select "Check PCM VIN" from the list and click on the green arrow to the right of the item selected.

38. Follow the wiTECH screen instructions to complete the VIN programming.

39. Select "Check PCM Odometer" from the list and click on the green arrow to the right of the item selected.

40. Follow the wiTECH screen instructions to complete the odometer programming.

41. Select "Learn ETC" from the list and click on the green arrow to the right of the item selected.

42. Follow the wiTECH screen instructions to complete the Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) programming.

43. Select "Quicklearn (62TE)" from the list and click on the green arrow to the right of the item selected.

44. Follow the wiTECH screen instructions to complete the Quick Learn programming.

45. Select the "Return to Vehicle View" button.

46. Select "Diagnostic Procedure".

47. Select "Reset ECU" from the list and click on the green arrow to the right of the item selected.

48. Follow the wiTECH screen instructions.

49. Select "WCM" at the "Reset ECU" screen.

50. Select the "continue" button on the "Reset ECU" screen.

51. Select the "close" button on the "Reset ECU" screen.

52. Select the "All DTCs" tab.

53. All modules with an active fault code for "Not Calibrated / Lost Calibration" must be recalibrated. Click on the active module code, then click on the green arrow and follow the diagnostic procedure. Repeat this procedure for each module that requires calibration.

54. Clear all Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC's) by clicking the "Clear Stored DTC's" button.

55. Turn the ignition to the "OFF" position and remove the wiTECH and battery charger from the vehicle.

56. Continue with Section E. Install the Authorized Modifications Label.
