C2205-96-STEERING ANGLE SENSOR INTERNAL - COMPONENT INTERNAL FAILURE

For a complete wiring diagram, refer to the Wiring Information.

Theory of Operation

The Steering Angle Sensor (SAS) for this vehicle is integral to the Steering Column Control Module (SCCM). The SCCM is located near the top of the steering column below the steering wheel. The SCCM includes the steering column shroud, the Steering Angle Sensor (SAS), the Clockspring, the Multi-function Switch, a Steering Column Power Tilt and Telescope Switch (if equipped), Upshift and Downshift Switches (if equipped), and a trim cover. The SCCM is replaced as an entire assembly.

- When Monitored:
With the ignition on.

- Set Condition:
The Steering Angle Sensor (SAS) has set an internal failure status.

CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC)
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

Does the scan tool display this DTC as active?

Yes

- Replace the Steering Column Control Module (SCCM).
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

No

- Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals, and correct pin tension.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
