P2115

P2115-ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION SENSOR 1 MINIMUM STOP PERFORMANCE

For a complete wiring diagram, refer to the Wiring Information.

Theory of operation

The Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) system uses two Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) sensors to monitor the accelerator pedal position. The APP sensors 1 and 2 are located within the pedal assembly. Each sensor has a 5-volt reference circuit, a low reference circuit, and a signal circuit. Processors are also used to monitor the ETC system data. The processors are located within the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Each signal circuit provides processors with a signal voltage proportional to pedal movement. The processors share and monitor data to verify that the indicated APP calculation is correct.

- When Monitored:
Ignition on. During in plant mode the APP Sensors need to be checked to make sure that idle and full pedal travel can be reached on both sensors. The test for P2115 is only enabled once test for P2166 has passed.

- Set Condition:
APPS No.1 has failed to achieve the required minimum value during In Plant testing. One trip fault and the code will set within five seconds. Engine will only idle. ETC light is illuminated.

Always perform the Pre-Diagnostic Troubleshooting procedure before proceeding. Pre-Diagnostic Troubleshooting Procedure.

1. IN PLANT TEST FAILURE
1. Ignition on, engine not running.

NOTE: This DTC is set when the APP Sensors are learned in plant but do not reach the Minimum or Maximum voltage range.

2. With the scan tool, select View DTCs.
3. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
4. Start the engine.
5. With the scan tool, view DTCs.

NOTE: Diagnose any APPS out of Range and 5 Volt Supply DTCs before continuing.

Is the DTC Active at this time?

Yes

- Go To 2

No

- Perform the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Intermittent Condition Test.

2. APPS RELEARN
1. With the scan tool select the ETC RELEARN function.
2. Next, erase DTCs.
3. Start the engine.

Does the DTC return?

Yes

- Replace the APPS Assembly. Removal. After installation is complete, use a scan tool and select the ETC RELEARN function.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Powertrain Verification Test.

No

- Test Complete.
