RF-HUB INITIALIZATION - EXPORT WITH COLUMN LOCK MODULE
CAUTION: On vehicles equipped with the optional export premium Vehicle Theft System, when either the Radio Frequency Hub RF-Hub) or the shaft lock module (also known as Elektrische Lenksaulen Verriegelung/ELV or Electric Steering Column Lock/ESCL ) is replaced with a new unit, the existing RF-Hub or ELV/ESCL MUST also be replaced with a new unit. In other words, any time either the RF-Hub or the ELV/ESCL is replaced with a new unit, BOTH the RF-Hub and the ELV/ESCL MUST be replaced with new units, WITHOUT EXCEPTION. Following replacement of BOTH the RF-Hub and the column lock module/ELV/ESCL, the two modules MUST be initialized using diagnostic scan tool routines in the EXACT SEQUENCE that follows. Failure to follow this sequence may result in BOTH the new RF-Hub and the new ELV/ESCL being rendered unusable, requiring BOTH units to be replaced a second time.
NOTE: Do not put a laptop or any wireless device (cell phones, audio devices etc.) near the top of the center console (the RKE antenna is located below the center console).
1. After both the RF-Hub and the ELV/ESCL have been replaced with new units, connect the diagnostic scan tool to the Data Link Connector (DLC).
2. Turn the ignition ON
3. Navigate to the RF-Hub in the ECU View of the diagnostic scan tool.
4. Turn the ignition OFF
5. Put all the FOBiK's used in this vehicle on the front seat away from the console.
6. With the scan tool select: "Program ignition FOBIKs" in the Miscellaneous Functions menu and follow the instructions on the screen.
NOTE: When programming a FOBIK, have it in your hand resting on the console.
7. After all the FOBIKs have been programmed, run the "RF-Hub Replace" routine.
8. Turn the ignition on.
9. Run the ELV Replaced routine, also found under the Miscellaneous Functions menu item of the RF-Hub in the ECU View of the diagnostic scan tool.
10. Turn the ignition to the OFF position, wait 30 seconds, then cycle the ignition back to the ON/RUN position.
11. Verify that the ELV Locks the steering column when the ignition is turned off and Unlocks the steering column when the ignition is turned On.
