Interior - Squeak From Under Passenger Seat Storage Bin

Squeak Coming From Under Front Passenger Seat Storage Bin

OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves removing the passenger seat storage bin and applying flock/felt tape to the seat track cross frame bar at the front of the passenger seat bottom.

NOTE:
This bulletin applies to vehicles built prior to March 13, 2013 (MDH 0313XX) equipped with passenger in seat cushion storage (sales code CVG).

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The customer may experience a squeak coming from under the passenger seat storage bin.

DIAGNOSIS:
The seat storage bin is sitting on and rubbing against the seat track cross frame bar at the front of the passenger seat bottom. If the customer describes the symptom, perform the Repair Procedure.





PARTS REQUIRED:

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

1. Remove the passenger seat storage bin. Refer to the detailed procedures available in DealerCONNECT > TechCONNECT under: Service Info > 23 - Body > Seats, Front > BIN, Under Seat Storage > Removal.

NOTE:
The seat cover and cushion do not need to be removed from the seat bottom/storage lid assembly.





2. Remove the four fasteners (1) and disconnect any retaining clips or connectors in order to remove the seat bottom/storage lid assembly (Fig. 1).





3. Apply a strip of felt/flock tape (1) to the inboard side of the seat track cross frame bar in the areas indicated below to prevent the bar from making contact with the two side stand-offs (2) (Fig. 2).

4. Reinstall the seat bottom/storage lid assembly.

5. Reinstall the passenger seat storage bin. Refer to the detailed procedures available in DealerCONNECT > TechCONNECT under: Service Info > 23 - Body > Seats, Front > BIN, Under Seat Storage > Installation.
