Rear Blower Motor - Operation

OPERATION

The rear blower motor controls the velocity of air moving through the rear heater and A/C housing by spinning the blower wheel within the housing at the selected speed.

Both the Manual Temperature Control (MTC) and the Automatic Temperature Control (ATC) rear heating and A/C systems use an electronic blower motor power module to control rear blower motor speed. The power module uses a Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) input from the A/C heater module and a feedback signal from the blower motor to regulate the blower motor ground path. On both systems, the rear blower motor receives battery current through a relay in the Power Distribution Center (PDC) whenever the ignition is in the Run position.

The rear blower motor control system is diagnosed using a scan tool Testing and Inspection.

The rear blower motor and wheel are factory balanced as an assembly and cannot be adjusted or repaired, and must be replaced if inoperative or damaged.
