DISASSEMBLY

56. Remove output shaft gear-to-shaft bolt (2)(Figure 52) and washer (3).










57. Using (L-4407A) (4)(Figure 53), and Button (6055) (2), remove output gear (1) from shaft.










58. Remove output gear bearing shim (select) (2)(Figure 54).










59. Using (5048) with (5048-5) and (L-4539-2) (1)(Figure 55), remove output gear bearing cone.










60. Remove rear carrier assembly (1)(Figure 56) from transaxle.










61. Remove rear carrier assembly (3) bearing cone using (5048) with (5048-3) and (6055)(Figure 57).










62. Assemble (6057) (1)(Figure 58), (5059-A) (2) and (5058A-3) (3).










63. Install low/reverse (6057)(Figure 58) (5059-A) (5058A-3).










64. Compress low/reverse piston return spring and remove snap ring (1)(Figure 60).










65. Remove low/reverse (5059-A) and low reverse piston return spring (1)(Figure 61).










66. Using a suitable punch, drive out park guide bracket pivot shaft (2) plug(Figure 62).










67. Using ordinary pliers, remove pivot shaft (3)(Figure 63) and guide bracket assembly (2).










68. Inspect guide bracket (2) components for excessive wear and replace if necessary(Figure 64).










NOTE: The Low/Reverse Clutch Piston has bonded seals which are not individually serviceable. Seal replacement requires replacement of the piston assembly.

69. Remove low/reverse clutch piston (1)(Figure 65).










70. Remove low/reverse piston retainer-to-case screws (3)(Figure 66).










71. Remove low/reverse piston retainer (1)(Figure 67).










72. Remove low/reverse piston retainer-to-case gasket (2)(Figure 68).










73. Using a hammer (2)(Figure 69) and suitable drift (3), drive out inner output bearing cup (1).










74. Using (6062A) (1)(Figure 70), remove outer output bearing cup.
