Center Bezel Lamp - Removal

LAMP

WARNING: To avoid serious or fatal injury on vehicles equipped with air bags, disable the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) before attempting any steering wheel, steering column, airbag, seat belt tensioner, impact sensor or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the SRS. Failure to take the proper precautions could result in accidental airbag deployment.

1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
2. The center bezel lamp unit (3) is located on the instrument panel center bezel (4), in the roof of the bezel opening located over the center floor console forward storage bin. Reach into the bin and use a small thin-bladed screwdriver to depress the tab of the lamp latch feature on the end of the lamp housing nearest the lens.
3. Pull the lamp down and toward the right to disengage the fixed lamp retainer from the mounting hole of the center bezel.
4. Disconnect the instrument panel wire harness (1) connector (2) from the lamp connector receptacle.
5. Remove the lamp unit from the center bezel.
