HELP USING THE wiTECH DIAGNOSTIC APPLICATION FOR FLASHING AN ECU IS AVAILABLE BY SELECTING "HELP" THEN "HELP CONTENTS" AT THE TOP OF THE wiTECH DIAGNOSTIC APPLICATION WINDOW.
THE wiTECH SOFTWARE LEVEL MUST BE AT RELEASE 12.01 OR HIGHER TO PERFORM THIS PROCEDURE.

Flash: MIL Illumination And/Or Transmission Temperature Light And/Or Transmission Cooler Freeze Up
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves flash reprogramming the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) with new software.
MODELS:
2012 (DD) RAM 3500 Cab Chassis
2012 (DJ) RAM 2500 Pickup
2012 (DS) RAM 1500 Pickup
NOTE:
This Service Bulletin applies to vehicles equipped with 4 speed 42RLE or 6 speed 65RFE or 6 speed 66RFE automatic transmission (sales code DGV, DG1 or DFP) built before November 15, 2011 (MDH 1115XX).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Some customers may notice any of the following:
a. A MIL Illumination for Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0441 - Evap Purge System Performance All engines.
b. Transmission temperature light and/or transmission cooler freeze-up. This condition will typically occur when temperatures are below 10° F (-23° C) 6 speed automatic transmissions only (DG1 or DFP).
The Technician may also find that DTC P0218 - Transmission High Temperature Operation Activated has been set, active or stored on 6 speed automatic transmissions only (DG1 or DFP).
Updating the software will correct the conditions listed above.
DIAGNOSIS:
Using a Scan Tool (wiTECH(TM)) with the appropriate Diagnostic Procedures available in TechCONNECT, verify no DTC's are set. If DTC's are present other then the one listed above record them on the repair order and repair as necessary before proceeding further with this bulletin.
If a customer describe the symptom/condition or if the technician finds the DTC(s), perform the Repair Procedure.

NOTE:
Install a battery charger to ensure battery voltage does not drop below 13.2 volts. Do not allow the charging voltage to climb above 13.5 volts during the flash process.
NOTE:
If this flash process is interrupted/aborted, the flash should be restarted.
1. Reprogram the DTCM with the latest software. Help using the wiTECH diagnostic application for flashing an ECU is available by selecting "help "then "help contents" at the top of the wiTECH diagnostic application window. After PCM reprogramming, the following must be performed:
2. Clear any DTC's that may have been set in other modules due to reprogramming. The wiTECH application will automatically present all DTCs after the flash and allow the tech to clear them.
3. Type the necessary information on the "Authorized Modification Label" and attach it near the VECI label.
