Front Parking Brake Cable - Installation






FRONT CABLE






1. Pass most of the front parking brake cable (5) down through the access hole in the floor pan (4) from inside the vehicle.

2. Insert the lever end of the front parking brake cable through the mounting hole in the parking brake lever. Slide it through until the retainer fingers on the end of the housing lock in place. Make sure all fingers are engaged preventing removal of cable from bracket.

3. Pull button on end of cable strand out of housing and route into lever, then attach the front cable button to the lever mechanism.

4. Slide any extra cable back into housing.





5. Position parking brake lever (1) over mounting studs, against left lower cowl (3).

6. Install three mounting nuts (2). Tighten all three nuts to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.).

7. Install the front parking brake cable (5) floor pan seal into the hole in the floor pan (4).

8. Install the cable routing P-clip onto the weld stud.

9. Reposition the carpeting back down on the floor.





10. Connect wiring connector (2) at parking brake indicator lamp switch.

11. Attach interface connector (3) to parking brake lever (1).

12. Install lower cowl trim.

13. Install left front door opening sill scuff plate.

14. Raise and support the vehicle.





15. Pass the end of the front cable (5) through the hole in the end of the intermediate bracket (1). Press the cable housing retainer through the hole until the fingers on the retainer lock it into place.

16. Attach the front cable to the routing clips fastened to the underbody of the vehicle.

17. Attach the equalizer to the three parking brake cables and reset the automatic adjuster tension on the cables. Service and Repair

18. Lower the vehicle.

19. Apply and release park brake pedal one time. This will seat the parking brake cables and allow the automatic adjuster in the parking brake lever mechanism to correctly tension the parking brake cables.

20. Check operation of parking brakes.
