Front Parking Brake Cable - Removal






FRONT CABLE

1. Release the parking brake.

2. Raise and support the vehicle. Service and Repair

3. Manually release the automatic adjuster mechanism tension of the parking brake lever assembly on the cables. Service and Repair

4. Remove the front cable from the routing clips fastened to the underbody of the vehicle.










5. Collapse the front cable retainer fingers at the end of the cable housing (1) where it contacts the intermediate bracket. Using an appropriate size box wrench (2) works well to do this.





6. Pull the front cable (5) out of the intermediate bracket (1).

7. Lower the vehicle.

8. Remove left front door opening sill scuff plate.

9. Remove lower cowl trim.





10. Remove interface connector (3) retaining clips from parking brake lever (1).

11. Disconnect wiring connector (2) at parking brake indicator lamp switch.





12. Remove three mounting nuts (2), then remove parking brake lever (1) from cowl (3) and place it on driver's floor.

NOTE:
Prior to removing cable from lever, note cable routing through lever for ease in reassembly.

13. Remove front cable button from lever.










14. Collapse the front cable retainer fingers at the end of the cable housing (1). Using an appropriate size box wrench (2) works well to do this.

15. Separate cable from parking brake lever (3).





16. Lift back the carpet and remove the cable routing P-Clip from the weld stud.

17. Pull the cable seal loose from the floor pan.

18. Pull the front parking brake cable (5) out of the vehicle through the hole in the floor pan (4).
