P1205-FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE INTERNAL PERFORMANCE

- When Monitored:
Engine running. Battery voltage greater than 11.0 Volts.
- Set Conditions:
The Fuel Pump Control Module (FPCM) loses the ability to detect short circuits, output state, overvoltage, and thermal runaway. Sets the MIL after failure matures for 60 seconds. When this DTC is set, The FPCM will continue to run the Fuel Pump Module in the normal mode at the duty cycle commanded by the PCM. This is an internal FPCM fault.
Always perform the Pre-Diagnostic Troubleshooting procedure before proceeding. Pre-Diagnostic Troubleshooting Procedure.
Diagnostic Test
1. ACTIVE DTC
NOTE: If DTC P0627 is present, repair that DTC before proceeding with this test.
1. Turn the ignition on, engine not running.
2. With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Is the DTC active?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Intermittent Condition Test.
2. CHECK THE (N1) FPCM 12 VOLT SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE
1. Leave the ignition on, engine not running.
2. With the scan tool, begin the Variable Speed Fuel Pump Relay Actuation Test.
3. Disconnect the FPCM harness connector.
4. Measure the voltage of the (N1) FPCM 12 Volt Supply circuit at the FPCM harness connector.
Is the voltage measured equal to battery voltage?
Yes
- Go To 3
No
- Repair the (N1) FPCM 12 Volt Supply circuit for an open or high resistance.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Powertrain Verification Test.
3. CHECK THE (Z916) GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE
1. Discontinue the Variable Speed Fuel Pump Relay Actuation Test.
2. Turn the ignition off.
3. Measure the resistance between ground and the (Z916) Ground signal at the FPCM harness connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
Yes
- Replace the Fuel Pump Control Module.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Powertrain Verification Test.
No
- Repair the (Z916) Ground circuit for an open or high resistance.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Powertrain Verification Test.
