B1D4E-15

B1D4E-15-ADJUSTABLE PEDAL INHIBIT - CIRCUIT SHORT TO BATTERY OR OPEN

For a complete wiring diagram, refer to the Wiring Information.

Theory of Operation

The Body Control Module (BCM) will disable the adjustable pedal function when the vehicle is in reverse or if the speed control is on. The BCM does this by providing voltage to the coil of the normally closed Adjustable Pedals Relay, which opens the contacts in the relay.

- When Monitored:
With the ignition on.

Vehicle is not in reverse.

Speed control is not active.

- Set Condition:
If the BCM detects a high voltage condition on the Adjustable Pedals Relay Driver circuit.

Diagnostic Test

1. CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, read the active DTCs.

Does the scan tool display this DTC as active?

Yes

- Go To 2

No

- Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals, and correct pin tension.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test .

2. CHECK THE (P201) ADJUSTABLE PEDALS RELAY DRIVER CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the PDC C5 harness connector.
3. Disconnect the BCM E harness connector.
4. Measure the voltage between ground and the (P201) Adjustable Pedals Relay Driver circuit.

Is there any voltage present?

Yes

- Repair the short to voltage in the (P201) Adjustable Pedals Relay Driver circuit.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test .

No

- Go To 3

3. CHECK THE (P201) ADJUSTABLE PEDALS RELAY DRIVER CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
1. Measure the resistance of the (P201) Adjustable Pedals Relay Driver circuit between the Adjustable Pedals Relay and the BCM E harness connector.

Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms?

Yes

- Go To 4

No

- Repair the open in the (P201) Adjustable Pedals Relay Driver circuit.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test .

4. CHECK THE BCM FOR CORRECT OPERATION
1. Reconnect the BCM E harness connector.
2. Turn the ignition on.
3. Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, check the (P201) Adjustable Pedals Relay Driver circuit at the PDC C5 harness connector.
4. With the brakes firmly applied, shift the gear selector into REVERSE.

Does the test light illuminate?

Yes

- Replace the PDC.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test .

No

- Replace the Body Control Module (BCM). Body Control Module - Removal.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test .
