B2312-11-WIPER ON/OFF CONTROL - CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND

- When Monitored:
With the windshield wipers on.

- Set Condition:
The Body Control Module (BCM) detects a short to ground in the wiper on/off relay coil control circuit.





Diagnostic Test

1. CHECK FOR ACTIVE DTC
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. Turn the front wipers on.
3. With the scan tool, read the active DTCs.

Does the scan tool display this DTC as active?

Yes

- Go To 2

No

- Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals, and correct pin tension.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test .

2. CHECK THE (W8) WIPER ON/OFF RELAY CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the PDC C7 harness connector.
3. Disconnect the BCM A harness connector.
4. Measure the resistance between ground and the (W8) Wiper On/Off Relay Control circuit.

Is the resistance above 10k Ohms?

Yes

- Go To 3

No

- Repair the short to ground in the (W8) Wiper On/Off Relay Control circuit.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test .

3. CHECK THE BCM FOR CORRECT OPERATION
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Reconnect the BCM A harness connector.
3. Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, check the (W8) Wiper On/Off Relay Control circuit at the PDC C7 harness connector.
4. Turn the ignition on.
5. Turn the front wipers on.

Does the test light illuminate?

Yes

- Replace the PDC.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test .

No

- Replace the Body Control Module (BCM). Body Control Module - Removal.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test .
