Voltage Stabilization Module (VSM) - Operation

OPERATION

The Voltage Stabilization Module (VSM) supports the following items:

1. Exterior Lights

2. Radio

3. Display (Integrated center stack, various button and switch illuminations)

4. Instrument Cluster

5. HVAC electronic display and operation

6. Integrated Trailer Tow Module (ITBM)

7. Parktronics (PTS)

These components should work as designed and behave as if the engine is running during stop mode.

The AC compressor will not work during stop mode, but HVAC settings will be preserved. Under certain conditions, HVAC will force the engine to restart so that the blower will operate. The heated seats and windows will continue to run during a Stop event, however during period the vehicle restarts, heated seats will turn off temporarily to prevent draw on voltage. The windows will turn off temporarily during restart as well, due to anti-pinch algorithm. The indicator for the seats will remain on to the customer. Heated mirrors are unaffected.

The power outlets will experience a voltage dip during restart and depending what is currently plugged in, there will be different responses: resets, beeps, etc or in some cases no response noted. the 115V AC inverter will reset and may not immediately return to normal operation (depending on what is connected) and manually plugging out and back in of the device may be required.

All motors (e.g. windows, blowers, etc) running during stop will slow down but all should continue to operate normally after restart.
