Sensor Read Test Mode

The sensor test mode allows the output of seven sensors and the state of three switches to be displayed on the Diagnostic Tool while the engine is not operating. This provides a means by which the entire circuit for each individual sensor and switch can be checked, including the wiring and single module engine controller (SMEC) circuitry. Test 10 allows erasure of any stored fault codes.
1. Connect tester C-4805 or equivalent and access fault codes.
2. After Code 55 has been displayed, indicating end of fault code display, press ATM button on tool to activate display. If a specific sensor read test is desired, hold ATM button down until desired test code appears.
3. Slide Read/Hold switch to the ``Hold'' position to display the corresponding sensor output level.
4. Sensor read test display code descriptions are as follows:
a. 01--Battery temperature sensor - display number divided by 10 equals sensor temperature.
b. 02--Oxygen sensor voltage - display number divided by 10 equals sensor voltage.
c. 03--Throttle body temperature sensor voltage - display number divided by 10 equals sensor voltage.
d. 04--Engine coolant temperature sensor - display number x 10 equals degrees of engine coolant sensor.
e. 05--Throttle position sensor voltage - display number divided by 10 equals sensor voltage.
f. 07--Battery voltage - display number equals battery voltage.
g. 08--Map sensor voltage - display number divided by 10 equals sensor voltage.
h. 09--Cruise control switches. Cruise Off - display is blank; Cruise On - display shows 00; Cruise Set - display shows 10; Cruise Resume - display shows 01.
i. 10--Fault code erase routine. Display will flash 0 for four seconds.
5. If sensor tested corresponds to previously noted fault code, check sensor wiring. If wiring is satisfactory, replace sensor.
