Emission Maintenance Reminder (EMR) Light

Some emission systems on this vehicle require periodic maintenance. Some of these systems are: PCV system, EGR system, Heated oxygen sensor, and some vacuum operated components.

A maintenance required light, mounted in the instrument panel, is used to indicate when maintenance is needed on one or more of the previously mentioned systems. This light is triggered by time instead of mileage, and when this predetermined time is reached, the light will illuminate. This system is only a reminder, it is not intended to indicate that a state of emergency exists or that the vehicle cannot be operated safely while this light is on. Once the proper maintenance has been performed, the light can be turned off using the following procedure:

Maintenance Required Module Location:

1. Locate the Maintenance Required Module, in the instrument cluster behind the fuel gauge (standard cluster) or tachometer (optional cluster) on the backside of the instrument panel.
2. Insert a small rod or screw driver blade into the hole of the Maintenance Required Module. Push lightly to reset the timer, and check to see if the Maintenance Required Light turned off.

CAUTION: Do not attempt to perform any test procedures on this system as damage to individual components could result.
