SERVICE PROCEDURE

A. REPLACE EGR BACKPRESSURE TRANSDUCER

EGR Vacuum Connections:





1. Raise hood (AD-Body) or remove engine cover (AB-Body) and locate EGR backpressure transducer (Figure 1)
2. Disconnect the vacuum hoses from backpressure signal tube, EGR valve and EGR solenoid connections.
3. Install provided backpressure transducer in direction shown in figure 1 and reconnect vacuum hoses.

B. ADJUST IGNITION TIMING

1. Set the gearshift selector in park or neutral and apply the parking brake. All lights and accessories must be off.
2. Hook up a magnetic timing unit or a conventional power timing light. Start engine and warm to operating temperature.
3. With the engine at operating temperature, connect DRBII diagnostic tool and access Basic Timing Mode in Special Functions section.
4. Loosen distributor and reset timing to 6° BTDC. (Note: This is a new timing specification.) Tighten distributor and recheck timing.
5. Turn engine off, remove timing equipment and DRBII and reinstall engine cover (AB-Body).

C. INSTALL RECALL COMPLETION LABEL:

1. With a ball point pen, print your dealer code (5 digits) on the supplied Recal Completion Label.
2. Peel the label from its backing and apply it near the Vehicle Emission Control Information Label on the underside of the hood.

D. COMPLETE PROOF OF CORRECTION FORM:

1. Complete a Vehicle Emission Recall Proof of Correction Form and supply it to the vehicle owner.

COMPLETION REPORTING AND REIMBURSEMENT
Claims for vehicles which have been serviced must be submitted on the DIAL System Claims submitted will be used by Chrysler to record recall service completions and provide dealer payments.
