Fuel Filter: Description and Operation

Servicing In-Tank Fuel Filter:

The first fuel filter in the system in located on the fuel pump unit in the fuel tank. It is a sock style filter and generally does not require service, however it is replaceable if necessary.

Fuel Filter Location:

The primary fuel filter used is an in-line type sealed unit located between the fuel pump and throttle body. The filter is found under the vehicle along the left side frame rail. The filter protects the injectors from dirt, water, and other foreign contamination.

NOTE: The manufacturer does not give a recommended service interval for the fuel filter; however, the fuel filter can be tested to determine if it is defective. Fuel System Diagnosis
