Front Brakes - Lead or Drift When Braking

Slight Front Brake Lead/Drift

MODELS:

1991 - 1994 (AN) Dakota (4 X 2 Only)

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

Slight lead or drift to the right or left while braking.

DIAGNOSIS:

Road test the vehicle. If the vehicle exhibits the symptoms, check the brake system and front suspension for any loose, worn binding or damaged components. Repair any problems encountered. If the vehicle still exhibits the symptoms, perform the repair procedure.

PARTS REQUIRED:

1 4796368 Brake Pad Set

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

This bulletin involves aligning the front end and installing front disc brake pads.

1. Perform a front end alignment using the following preferred specifications:

Caster +1.5 deg. (max left to right difference .25 deg.)
Camber + .5 deg. (max left to right difference .25 deg.)
Total Toe In +.25 deg. (max left to right difference .05 deg.)

2. Using the procedure outlined in the appropriate service manual, install brake pad set P/N 4796368.
