Verification Test VER-2A - Road Test Verification

TEST VER-2A ROAD TEST VERIFICATION

If this verification procedure is being performed after an OBD II trouble code test, go to VER-5A. For all other trouble codes, continue with this verification.

If the PCM has been replaced, do the following:

Important Note: If the PCM has been changed and the correct VIN and mileage have not been programmed, a DTC will be set in the ABS, Airbag and SKIM modules. In addition, if the vehicle is equipped with a Sentry Key Immobilizer Module (SKIM), Secret Key data must be updated to enable starting.

For ABS and Airbag Systems:
1. Enter the correct VIN and Mileage in PCM.
2. Erase ABS and Airbag module codes.

For SKIM Theft Alarm:
1. Connect the DRB to the data link connector.
2. Go to Engine, Misc., and place the SKIM in secured access mode, by using the appropriate PIN code for this vehicle.
3. Select update the Secret Key data to be transferred from the SKIM to the PCM (this is required to allow the vehicle to start with the new PCM).
4. If three attempts are made to enter secured access mode using an incorrect PIN, secured access mode will be locked out for one hour. To exit this lock out mode, leave the ignition key in the Run/Start position for one hour. Ensure all accessories are turned off. Also monitor the battery state and connect a battery charger if necessary.

If the PCM has not been replaced, do the following:
Inspect the vehicle to ensure that all engine components are connected. Reassemble and reconnect all components as necessary.

If this verification procedure is being performed after a NO TROUBLE CODE repair, do the following:
1. Check to see if the initial symptom still exists.
2. If the initial or another symptom exists, the repair is not complete. Check all pertinent Technical Service Bulletins and return to TEST NTC-1A, if necessary.

If this verification procedure is being performed after a TROUBLE CODE repair, do the following:
1. Connect the DRB to the data link connector and erase trouble codes.
2. With the DRB, reset all memory values.
3. If this test is for an A/C trouble code, ensure it is operating during the following road test.
4. Drive the vehicle for at least five minutes. For some of the drive, go at least 40 mph; at some point stop the vehicle and turn the engine off for 10 seconds or more; then restart and continue. Ensure the transmission shifts through all the gears. Upon completion of the road test, turn the engine off, and read trouble codes with the DRB. If a trouble code has set, return to DTC TEST and follow the path specified for that trouble code. If there are no trouble codes, the repair was successful and is now complete.
