One Gauge Inoperative
ONE GAUGE INOPERATIVE - GAS ENGINES
For a complete wiring diagram, refer to the Wiring Information .
1. POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Does the scan tool display any PCM DTCs?
Yes
- Testing and Inspection Perform the appropriate diagnostic procedure.
No
- Go To 2
2. CLUSTER
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Perform the Cluster Self Test Component Tests and General Diagnostics.
NOTE: The Self Test can be initiated manually by depressing and holding the Trip Reset button while turning the ignition on, or by using the scan tool.
3. Observe the gauge in question while the Cluster performs the Self Test.
4. The gauges should position at the following calibrations points:
5. Speedometer MPH: 0, 20, 60, 90
6. Tachometer Gas: 0, 1000, 3000, 6000
7. Fuel: E, 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, F
8. Coolant: Cold, 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, HI
9. Volts: 6, 9, 12, 15, 17
Did the gauge in question operate properly?
Yes
- The condition is not present at this time. Monitor scan tool parameters while wiggling the related wire harness. Search for any Technical Service Bulletins (TSB) that may apply. Visually inspect the related wiring harness and connector terminals.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
No
- Replace and configure the Cluster.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
