Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.

Checking the Basics

1. VERIFY THE CUSTOMER COMPLAINT It is very important that you get an accurate description of the problem. Verify when possible the complaint. Road testing is the only recommended way to do this.
2. PERFORM VISUAL CHECKS Experience has shown that many problems are caused by loose connectors, frayed insulation, loose hose clamps, leaks in vacuum or fuel lines. A short visual check will help you spot these most common faults and save a lot of unnecessary test and diagnostic time.
3. PERFORM DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE This procedure is broken down into four categories:
A. VISUAL INSPECTION
B. NO START
C. COLD DRIVEABILITY
D. WARM DRIVEABILITY
The customer complaint will tell you which one to use. Only use that procedure. There is no need to go through the No Start Test when the complaint is Warm Driveability.
