20. Using tool C-4231 or equivalent, remove vacuum and mechanical power valves, ensuring blade is squarely seated in slot on top of valve to avoid damaging power valve needle. Do not interchange mechanical and power valve assemblies. The mechanical power valve needle is approximately .05 inch shorter on 1985-86 models or .100 inch shorter on 1987-88 models than the vacuum power valve needle. The vacuum power valve needle can be identified by an undercut groove located just above the needle stop. The valve seats can be identified by a number stamped on the valve and they must be kept with their respective needle and spring assembly. The mechanical power valve is located on the choke side of the carburetor and the vacuum power valve is located on the throttle side.
21. Remove venturi cluster screws, lift venturi cluster and gasket up and away from main body and discard gasket.
