Cleaning & Inspection

1. Use suitable carburetor cleaning solvent for cleaning. The choke diaphragm, choke heater and some plastic parts of carburetor can be damaged by solvent. Do not place these parts in any liquid.

3. Shake dirt or other foreign material from plunger side of diaphragm.
4. Remove dirt by using compressed air but do not connect air to vacuum diaphragm fitting.
5. If it is difficult to determine if parts are suitable for reuse, replace them.
6. Test freeness of choke mechanism in air horn.
7. If choke shaft sticks in bearings, or appears to be gummed from deposits in air horn, or the link between the choke shaft and thermostat housing and thermostat housing and sealing block through which it passes are sticking, clean thoroughly.
8. Check throttle shaft for excessive wear in carburetor body. If wear is extreme, replace carburetor.
9. If tapered portion of idle mixture screw is not straight and smooth, replace screw.
