Side Rail Weatherstrip Installation
59. Remove the release paper from the foam tape and position the side rail weatherstrip retainer on the side rail (Fig 13).
60. Install the side rail weatherstrip retainer nuts provided and the washers (in three places each). Leave fasteners finger-tight.
61. Loosely install one screw each in the forward ends of the rails, adjusting the front end of the retainer to the inboard side of the slot.
62. Install the side rail seal to the retainer without adhesive at this time. Raise the top to the header and lock it down.
NOTE:
DO NOT INSTALL THE PUSH PIN IN THE SIDE RAIL SEAL AT THIS TIME.
63. Adjust the weatherstrip retainer to align the seal parallel to the side glass while maintaining the best possible fit to the header seal and rear rail joints. It is very critical to obtain a correct nesting effect of the overlapped portion of the side rail seal with the header seal. Put the top down and tighten the weatherstrip retainer attaching nuts to 4.5 N-m (40 in.lbs.) torque (Fig. 14).
64. Mark the fore/aft location of the weatherstrips on the retainers to locate the new weatherstrips at installation. Remove the side rail weatherstrips from the retainer and apply 3M Weatherstrip Adhesive (08011) to the mating surfaces of the retainer and seal.
65. Install the side rail weatherstrip and push pin (Fig. 14) to the tab of the retainer at the forward end. Adjust it fore and aft for a flush fit to the header seal and the rear rail seal.
66. If the door glass is low with respect to the side rail seal, adjust the door glass upstop.
