Condenser Fan Control Switch
Review General Information Safety Precautions before proceeding with this operation. This requires the use of a Manifold Gauge Set.Test must be conducted at ambient temperature of 21° to 27°C (70° to 85°F).
a. Connect a manifold gauge set to the compressor discharge port.
b. Electrically by-pass the Fan Control Switch by removing the connector and placing a jumper wire across the connector terminal.
c. Set the A/C controls to Panel or A/C and high blower, operate the engine at 1300 rpm.
d. With a discharge pressure of 1102Kpa (160 psi) or below there should be no continuity across the switch terminals. With an increase in discharge pressure (this can be achieved by restricting the airflow through the radiator/condenser) there should be switch continuity at 1516 69Kpa (220 ± 10 psi). Again with a decrease in discharge pressure (removing radiator/condenser restriction) there should be no continuity below 1102 Kpa (160 psig). If the switch fails to open and close according to the specification, the switch should be replaced and all electrical connections properly installed.
