Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview

Note: A visual check can save unnecessary test and diagnostic time.

1. Inspect for any obviously loose, disconnected, or misrouted wires and hoses.

2. Ensure battery connections are clean and tight.

- MAP Sensor

- Throttle Body Wiring To Main Harness

- Idle Air Control (IAC) Motor

- Throttle Position Sensor

- Fuel Injector

- Neutral Safety Switch (Auto Trans Only)

- Torque Convertor Lockup Solenoid (Auto Trans Only)

10. Check routing of all vacuum hoses. Refer to the vacuum schematic on the Vehicle Emission Control Information (VECI) label.

11. Verify that the following vacuum connections are secure and not leaking;

- MAP Sensor

- Canister Purge Solenoid

- Vapor Canister

- PCV System

- Throttle Body

- Heated Air Door Vacuum

- Power Brake And Speed Control

12. Check Hose and Wiring Connections at Fuel Pump. Ensure connector is making contact with terminals on pump.
