Detonation/Spark Knock

SYMPTOM DESCRIPTION:

A mild to severe ping usually worse under acceleration. The engine makes sharp metallic knocks that change with the throttle opening.


POSSIBLE CAUSE ACTION


Spark plugs ^ Check for proper heat range and gap.


Ignition Timing ^ Check distributor indexing.


PCM ^ Check spark advance.
