Liftgate Emblem Paint Peeling
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves inspecting and if necessary replacing the rear abarth liftgate emblem.
MODELS:
2012 FF 500 (Abarth Only)
NOTE:
This applies to vehicles equipped with (sales code MEA) Abarth exterior badging built before July 07, 2012 (MDH0707XX).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Liftgate emblem paint peeling.
PARTS REQUIRED:
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Inspect the abarth liftgate emblem as shown in (Fig. 1). Was the paint delaminating and/or peeling?
a. Yes >>> Proceed to Step # 2.
b. No >>> Return the vehicle to the customer or dealer inventory.
2. Remove the liftgate abarth emblem using a trim stick as shown in (Fig. 2) and discard.
3. Verify the plastic retainers p/n 68073915AA shown in (Fig. 3) are fully seated in the liftgate. If they do not fully seat and/or remained on the emblem during removal, they must be replaced.
4. Remove adhesive residue from the liftgate where the abarth emblem has been removed with 3M 08984 general purpose adhesive cleaner or equivalent in conjunction with a lint free towel (Fig. 4).
5. Clean the surface area where the emblem will be installed with isopropyl alcohol and a lint free towel.
6. Remove the adhesive liner on the new abarth emblem and install on the liftgate as shown in (Fig. 5).
NOTE:
Apply firm pressure to the emblem to ensure the adhesive is properly wetted out.
7. Return the vehicle to the customer or dealer inventory.
