Convergence Telematics Module - Operation
OPERATION
The CTM communicates with the BCM, IPC and radio over the CAN-B bus. The CTM also communicates with Bluetooth(TM) devices that may be paired to the system. A 32-pin connector provides hardwired circuits to the radio, hands-free microphone, and USB and iPod(R) interface.
The audio output from the CTM is hardwired to the radio. The overhead microphone is connected to the CTM. The CTM connects via Bluetooth(TM) protocol to a paired cell phone and sends the audio signal as a hardwired output to the radio. The CTM also sends a mute command to the radio via the CAN-B bus to override other audio signals. The hardwired audio output from the CTM is also used for the multimedia player input received from the USB or AUX port.
The system is capable of recognizing the voice commands given, irrespective of gender, tone of voice and intonation of the person giving the commands.
With this system you can also play your favorite music stored on a USB device and select tracks and playback modes with both voice commands and buttons on the steering wheel.
The CTM and radio provide diagnostics of the telematics system. The radio performs self diagnostics, monitors network communications, and stores fault codes related to the following conditions:
- Speaker output circuit open or shorted
- Antenna circuit open or shorted
- Internal error
- CAN-B bus off, or missing messages
- BCM faulty or missing message
- IPC faulty or missing message
- Radio faulty or missing message
The CTM performs self-diagnostics, monitors network communications, and stores fault codes related to the following conditions:
- Electrical malfunction due to overvoltage or excessive temperature
- Internal memory error
- Bluetooth(TM) hardware or driver error
- USB hardware or driver error
- Fused battery supply circuit open
- CAN-B bus off, or missing messages
- BCM faulty or missing message
- IPC faulty or missing message
