Compressor Clutch Relay: Description and Operation

DESCRIPTION

The relay (1) for the A/C clutch is an International Standards Organization (ISO) type relay. Relays conforming to ISO specifications have common physical dimensions, current capacities, terminal functions and patterns. The A/C clutch relay is a electromechanical device that switches battery current through a fuse in the Body Control Module (BCM) to the A/C clutch coil. The A/C clutch relay is energized when the relay coil is provided a ground path by the control circuitry within the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).

The A/C clutch relay is located in the PDC, in the engine compartment.
