DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE - INTERMITTENT VEHICLE OPERATION


FORD ALL VEHICLES WITH SOILD STATE IGNITION

LINCOLN-MERCURY

ALL VEHICLES WITH SOLID STATE IGNITION

LIGHT TRUCKS

ALL VEHICLES WITH SOLID STATE IGNITION

MEDIUM/HEAVY TRUCKS

ALL VEHICLES WITH SOLID STATE IGNITION

This procedure is to be used for vehicles which quit intermittently at a steady speed but operate normally (starts and runs) when brought in for service.

NOTE: This procedure is intended for diagnosis of intermittent engine stopping complaints but the vehicle operates normally when brought in for service. It will NOT be effective for other types of engine problems such as:

^ stumble, hesitation, stalls while idling or
^ decelerating
^ engine knock, miss, etc.
^ hard starting
^ lack of power
^ poor fuel economy
