Starter Load Test

Fig. 5 Starter load test connections:





1. Connect test equipment as shown, Fig. 5.
2. Ensure that no current is flowing through ammeter and heavy duty carbon pile rheostat portion of circuit.
3. Disconnect push on connector ``S'' at starter relay and connect remote starter switch from positive battery terminal to ``S'' terminal of starter relay.
4. Crank engine with remote starter and determine exact reading on voltmeter.
5. Stop cranking engine, then reduce resistance of carbon pile until voltmeter indicates same reading as obtained while engine was cranked. Ammeter should read 150---200 amps on 4 inch diameter starter, or 150---180 amps on 4{1/2} inch diameter starter.
