Brake Warning Indicator: Description and Operation

Red and yellow indicator lamps are used to warn of system malfunctions. The red lamp warns of such malfunctions as low brake fluid level, parking brake On, system pressure differential and other system faults. The red indicator lamp will be illuminated for approximately two seconds during engine starting and should go off, unless parking brake is applied or a problem in the brake system exists. The red indicator lamp will reset after repairs to system have been completed and system has returned to normal operation.

The yellow lamp monitors anti-lock brake system condition. The yellow lamp will be on during engine starting, but should go off when the self-diagnostic system determines proper system operation. If yellow lamp remains On, a malfunction in the anti-lock brake is indicated. After diagnosis and repair of the system, the yellow may be turned off by cycling the ignition switch Off then On.
