Test 3, Wiring Harness

1. Disconnect wiring harness connector from ignition module and check for dirt, corrosion, or damage. Push connector tabs to separate.
2. Disconnect wire from S terminal of starter relay.
3. Connect negative lead of a suitable digital voltmeter to distributor base.
4. Check battery voltage.
5. Check connector terminal voltage by connecting voltmeter to small straight pin inserted into connector terminal. Check voltage with ignition switch in following positions: check connector terminal 3 with ignition switch in Run and Start positions; and terminal 4 with switch in Start position.
6. If voltage readings are at least 90% of battery voltage, inspect wiring between coil and TFI module terminal 2 or any additional wiring or components connected to that circuit and repair as necessary.
7. If voltage readings are less than 90% of battery voltage, check wiring harness and connectors for damage of shorts. Check for damaged or worn ignition switch.
