TRANSMISSION-AOD, 3-4 SHIFT ACCUMULATORS NOT USED IN 1990 BUILT TRANSMISSIONS

FORD: 1990 CROWN VICTORIA, MUSTANG, THUNDERBIRD

LINCOLN-MERCURY: 1990 COUGAR, GRAND MARQUIS, MARK VII, TOWN CAR

LIGHT TRUCK: 1990 BRONCO, ECONOLINE, F-150, F-250, F-350

ISSUE: The 3-4 shift accumulators used in prior model year "AOD," transmissions are not used in 1990 "AOD," transmissions. The accumulator feed hole in the main control assembly has been blocked. The 3-4 shift accumulator is not required.

ACTION: Do not attempt to install a 3-4 shift accumulator piston in a 1990 "AOD" transmission because it is not designed to have one. It will not correct a 3-4 shift concern.
