Intermediate Band Servo
E4OD's built after August 7, 1995 have a redesigned intermediate servo piston. The new piston will retrofit to all previous years. At the time the servo was redesigned, Ford began omitting the retaining ring groove in the case which was used for the first design servo assembly. When using the second design servo assembly on a case which has the retaining ring groove, do not install the piston assembly retainer or snap ring.
Note:
The first design servo assembly can not be used on a case which does not have a retaining ring groove.
