Fuel Injection Pump Lever (FIPL) Sensor

CARES/OASIS - Yes
OWNER LIST - Yes

PROGRAM TIMING - EXTENDED COVERAGE - (FIPL Sensor)
THROUGH APRIL 30, 1992

AFFECTED Certain 1990 and 1991 F-Series and Econolines
VEHICLES built from 1990 model year Job # 1 through
October 14, 1990 with 7.3L Diesel engines and E40D transmissions.

REASONS FOR The engine mounted Fuel Injection Pump Lever
THIS PROGRAM (FIPL) sensor may prematurely wear out causing
an erratic output signal to be sent to the E40D. An erratic output
signal may cause improper E40D transmission operation.
Erratic output signals have resulted in undue transmission
service for both torque converter
replacements and internal clutch failures.

To correct the cause of erratic output signals, dealers are to:

^ replace the FIPL sensor.
^ inspect the transmission fluid for a burnt odor or for friction material/metal particles.
^ replace the torque converter if necessary.
^ if needed, call Sharonville Transmission Plant for instructions (513) 782-7371.

REFUNDS Only for dealer or owner-paid FIPL or E40D
repairs made before date of Owner Letter.
