Radio/Stereo: Description and Operation

DESCRIPTION
With the Ignition Switch in "ACCY" or "RUN", voltage is applied through Fuse 11 to operate the Radio.

Fuse 8 - applies voltage to the Radio at all times to power the memory-relayed function, which retains the memory portions when the Radio is turned off.

Panel Dimming - is controlled by the Main Light Switch Dimmer Control. A variable voltage is applied through 19 (LB/R) wire to control the brightness of the panel lamps.

The Display Brightness - is controlled by the Main Light Switch. With the Ignition Switch in "ACCY" or "RUN" and the Main Light Switch in "OFF", battery voltage is applied to the Radio on the 484 (O/BK) wire. The display brightens. With the Main Light Switch in "PARK" or "HEAD", a reduced voltage is applied to the radio on the 484 (O/BK) by the Main Light Switch Dimmer Control. The display will dim.

The Remote Radio Control - provides two audio outputs for headphones. In addition to controlling headphone volume, the module commands the Radio to seek "UP" and "DOWN". The module also sequentially selects the preset stations in memory by grounding 368 (R/BK), 370 (O/BK) or 372 (BR/O) wire.

The Remote Radio Control also turns off the Rear Door Speakers by controlling the 806 (PK/LB) wire (right side) and the 807 (PK/LG) wire (left side) to the speakers.
