Tester Hook Up

Rotunda Transmission Tester.:

Installing the Transmission Tester (Set-Up Procedure)

NOTES:
Installing the transmission tester at the bulkhead connector (at the transmission) allows the separation of the vehicle electronics from the transmission electronics. Disconnecting the normal vehicle electronics will in itself set additional codes and cause firm shifts. (Disconnecting the bulkhead connector defaults the transmission to maximum line pressure).

During tester usage additional fault codes may be set. Therefore, it is imperative that all codes be erased after repairs have been completed. To verify elimination of all codes, rerun self-test.

1. Disconnect vehicle wiring at transmission bulkhead connector.

CAUTION: Do not attempt to pry off connectors with a screwdriver. This will damage the connector and could result in a transmission concern. If the vehicle is equipped with transmission heat shields, remove them first. Always replace heat shields after service. Route all cables away from heat sources.

2. Turn tester solenoid select switch to the OHMS/DIODE CHECK position.
3. Install appropriate overlay onto tester. Connect appropriate interface cable to transmission tester and then to the appropriate transmission connectors.
4. install a line pressure gauge into line pressure tap on transmission.
5. Plug transmission tester power supply into cigar lighter receptacle. At this time, all LEDs should illuminate for a short period and then turn off. This is the tester internal circuit check.
6. Position Bench/Drive switch to BENCH mode.
